Who We Are2018-01-15T21:06:21+00:00

Our Mission Is Simple

We want to be a safe place where people can find and follow Jesus.

That means that we don’t judge or care where you came from. We just care that you’re here.

That also means that we don’t point fingers at anyone but ourselves as we examine the claims of Christ, knowing that we’ve got just as much growing and learning to do as anyone else.

We believe in being challenged by the words of scripture, and that being a Christian doesn’t mean following “doctrines,” it means following Jesus’ words in our daily lives and being people who are what we say we are and whose actions speak louder than words.

How We Got Started

When North Point launched in 2003, we knew Springfield didn’t need just another church. We wanted to be a church where everyone was welcome and that anyone would feel comfortable coming to, no matter where they were coming from. We also wanted to be a church that put our faith into action and made giving back to our community a priority.

We started as a church plant in an old movie theater in North Springfield, and we are now a multi-site church with 3 locations in the Southwest Missouri area and with a growing Give Back ministry that is restoring our communities with hope and help.

Our Ministry Leaders

Jeremy is the Lead Pastor of North Point Church. He is passionate about seeing people transformed by Jesus, making Heaven more crowded and earth more hopeful. Jeremy and Leanne have been married nearly 20 years, and have two high school daughters, Janaya and Sydney. They joined the North Point team in 2012 when they moved from Seattle, WA.

What We Believe

About Scripture
We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God and that men were moved by the Spirit of God to write the very words of Scripture. The truths in these Scriptures provide principles we are to apply. We are not to shape Scripture to align with our lives, but we are to shape our lives to align with Scripture.
About God
We believe in one God who exists in three distinct persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We believe that Jesus Christ is the second member of the Trinity (the Son of God) who became flesh to reveal God to humanity and to become the Savior of the lost world.
About Humanity
We have a natural desire to be in CONTROL and to IGNORE God’s principles for living. The Bible calls this attitude SIN. This sin separates us from relationship with God. As a result, people are incapable of regaining a right relationship with God through their own efforts.
About Salvation
We believe that the blood of Jesus Christ, shed on the cross, provides the sole basis for the forgiveness of sin. Therefore, God freely offers salvation to those who place their faith in the death and resurrection of Christ as sufficient payment for their sin.
About the Christian Life
We believe all Christians should live for Christ and not for themselves. By obedience to the Word of God and daily yielding to the Spirit of God, every believer should mature and be conformed to the image of Christ.
About the Church
We believe that the Church is the body of Christ, of which Jesus Christ is the head. The members of the Church are those who have trusted by faith the finished work of Christ. The purpose of the Church is to glorify God by loving him and by making him known to the lost world.

In essential beliefs, we have UNITY.

We define the “essential beliefs” as the foundational beliefs above. In almost every service we have these foundational beliefs present.

In non-essential beliefs, we have LIBERTY.

Our leadership team has convictions and beliefs in many other areas, and we assume you do too! Jesus came to take away our sin, not our minds. We don’t expect everyone at North Point to believe the same thing about the many expressions of Scripture and faith that make the Church so diverse. We refuse to whittle down our unity by demanding we all think “alike” in every area. Unity isn’t believing the same thing, it’s serving the same purpose.
