TAKE YOUR NEXT STEP

Baptism is one of the most meaningful moments in a person’s faith journey.
It’s a public declaration that your life has been changed by Jesus and that you’re choosing to follow Him.

If you've decided to follow Jesus, baptism is the next step.

What is baptism?

Baptism is a public expression of a personal decision. When someone goes under the water, it symbolizes the old life being buried. When they come up, it represents new life in Christ. It’s not what saves you, Jesus does that! But, baptism is the moment you publicly say: "My life belongs to Him." Throughout the Bible, people who decided to follow Jesus were baptized as their first step of obedience toward him.

Baptism FAQs

  • No is the short answer!

We wont shove a microphone in your face but right before your baptism, you'll usually have an opportunity — if you want— to share what led you to this next step.

So there will be opportunities to talk if you want to, but no microphone is going to be placed in your face that you have to talk in front of the whole audience.

  • Actually, at each of our campuses the water is pretty warm. You're not getting baptized in a creek today! But, at each of our campuses, we have a temperature controlled tank for you. So hopefully it won't be a total shock when you get in the tank and you can focus on remembering the moment and on the decision that you're making.

  • Also, the short answer is no.

The water is not magic. It's just regular water that we put in the tank. Pretty normal stuff. But what is pretty miraculous, even though there's nothing magic about the water, is that there's something miraculous about you taking that next step and God doing something in your heart as you're obedient to him.

  • Can I pee in the tank?

Weird that you might be asking that… but please do not! We know how warm the water can be or how cold it sometimes is and you thought to yourself you need to warm it up….yeah please don’t pee in the tank. There is chlorine in the tank so you're okay. Rumor has it that it does turn purple if you do!!

    Just kidding!

  • Generally, we do baptisms at the end of our service time. We want you to be able to enjoy service, so you'll be able to take in the message and you can check your kids into kid point, your students into the student area and toward the end of service there will be an opportunity where the pastor says, “Hey if you're getting baptized make your way out to the lobby.” That's your moment to get up to take all your things and head out to the lobby to prepare to get baptized.

  • Absolutely!

if you’ve got a proud mama (or are one!) or you got a family member or you got a spouse that wants to take photos of this tell them to butt their way to the front and snap a picture. We will have professional photos taken and we'll make sure that you get those emailed to you the next week so that you've got you've got something to hang in your living room.

  • Generally we'll have you check in about 30 minutes before the service that you signed up to get baptized. This will allow you time to get a t-shirt, a bag of supplies, and to have someone walk you through the process of what that looks like at your specific campus.

You can go ahead and get changed into your baptism t-shirt, and your shorts. That way as you sit in service and your time at the end comes you're ready to go! And since you don't have to make any quick Superman changes and you can focus on getting baptized.

  • We get this question a lot, and really that decision is up to you!

Maybe you were baptized at a young age, it wasn't your decision and you didn't really fully understand what that meant. You can get baptized again.

If you were maybe baptized a year ago and you've sinned since then…there are other ways to renew your faith in Christ that isn't getting baptized and we'd love to help walk you through that.

Maybe for some, you were sprinkled as a kid. There is something specific in Scripture about being immersed in water and coming back up. Usually what we talk about when we baptize you and put you under the water, is we say, “buried with Christ.” And then when you bring you up we say, “raised to new life.”

There is something special about the fact that your past is behind you and now you are a daughter or son of His. You're in the family and you now get to live like you're loved because you are!
