Group Leader Check-in Guide
Below are some very practical ways to care for Group Leaders this semester!
Call within first 2 weeks of group start date to check in.
Explain you are their coach for the session and that you are here to help.
How is it going so far? Any questions? Chat to get to know them better. Any way I can pray for you, your family, your role as leader?
How can we help you? Is there anything you need? (resourcing them—extra discussion questions, ice breaker ideas, meeting place ideas)
Are there any concerns (crises, emergencies) within the group that you feel need to be shared with a pastor (with permission of group member)?
Ask for their preferred method for your contacts with them (text, call, email?). Let them know you’ll be checking back in periodically and that they can contact you any time with prayer requests or questions. Let them know best way to contact you, too. Good check-in goal: 3 or 4 times this semester.
Record any prayer requests in a notebook (leave a couple pages between leader names).
Pray for them daily
Use this notebook when checking in with them as a tool for follow up. Ask for updates about prayer concerns shared in previous contacts. Asking specific follow-up questions shows you care about what matters most to them.
Record updates in notebook, etc.
Record any questions you don’t know the answer to and follow up with them within 2-3 days if possible.
If you have time, it would be nice to connect with them one-on-one in person too.
Meet them for coffee, breakfast, lunch, dinner or get creative ☺
